OUR STORY
A piece of Bruges history
‘t Molenhuis is located on the Potterierei, in the heart of one of Bruges’ most historic neighborhoods. This picturesque area breathes the atmosphere of bygone days with its stately mansions, centuries-old canals and historic monuments.
Once a bustling trade route, the neighborhood grew into a place where craftsmanship and heritage go hand in hand. Traces of the medieval pottery industry are still tangible here, as is the impressive Our Lady of the Pottery hospital, which has served the community since the 13th century.
Today this neighborhood remains an authentic and vibrant place where history and hospitality come together. In the midst of this heritage, ‘t Molenhuis welcomes you for a warm, culinary experience – with respect for Bruges’ rich tradition.
Since 2019, Thierry Strypsteen has been at the helm of ‘t Molenhuis. With a passion for hospitality, ‘t Molenhuis combines the authentic tavern experience with culinary innovation. On the menu? Regional beers, homemade snacks and a mix of French classics and Flemish specialties. And of course the freshest beer in Bruges!
During the corona period, we didn’t sit still. Thierry seized the opportunity to expand ‘t Molenhuis. An unused space was added to the café, creating twenty additional seats. This way, even more guests can enjoy the intimate, cozy atmosphere and flavorful offerings.
Today ‘t Molenhuis remains a place where tradition and innovation come together. Where you settle down for a good drink, a delicious meal and a piece of Bruges hospitality.
